GUAM – The Navy has awarded an 8 (a) sole source contract worth $264,000 to Dae Sung Corporation to upgrade the electrical system at Tarague Beach, a recreational beach park located on Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.
“This contract action was accomplished using other than competitive procedures because a statute exists that expressly authorizes or requires that the acquisition be made from a specific source,” the Navy said in its award notice for contract number N4019211C6007.
A tribally owned company from Wisconsin, Dae Sung Mandaree Corporation partnered with Florida-based Far East Construction Corporation to form DF Joint Venture. In Aug. 2010, DF JV became one of six companies selected by the Navy to compete for $100 million in construction task orders under the 8 (a) multiple award construction contract meant in part to prepare Guam for the arrival of Marines from Okinawa. Under the MACC, DF Joint Venture has so far won over $2.6 million in construction work, where its average task order size has been $441,056.
Dae Sung Corporation operates a branch office in Dededo, Guam.
